Last evening was another memorable day in the life of Union Bank of Cameroon as the bank hall played host to an unprecedented number of high-profile personalities that were part of the Government Delegate’s entourage. It should be recalled that late September this year, we received a letter from the Government Delegate inviting all enterprises, agencies, business centres, shops, filling stations, corporate head offices and their branches or institutions bordering the road to decorate the frontage of their structures with chaser lights and other special decoration pieces in order to give Douala a new face lift during these end-of-year festivities.
As a mark of civic responsibility, Union Bank of Cameroon complied, and yesterday, December 1st, the Government Delegate, after the official launch of the festive lighting at Carrefour Nelson Mandela followed by a caravan round town, made a stopover at the UBC Corporate Head Office at Akwa to express his gratitude for the bank’s commitment and contribution towards the embellishment of the city. It was about 8:00pm when the Government Delegate’s caravan drove in. On hand to welcome the Delegate and his entourage, made up of his collaborators and some foreign business persons, were the Assistant General Manager of UBC, Department Heads and a cross section of the staff. The Delegate and his entourage then took a look at the illuminated façade before getting into the bank hall where he expressed total satisfaction with what the bank did. To him, that was proof of our civic responsibility and a true reflection of our corporate citizenship. He further thanked UBC for the very warm reception they were given at the bank that evening, and urged the bank to continue in that same spirit. On his part, the Assistant General Manager thanked the august visitors for being with us and reaffirmed the bank’s resolve to always cooperate with local authorities to make every locality where it operates a place to be at all times, particularly during end-of-year festivities. He said as an institution, we will continue to look for ways and means to develop our community. In-house
