Union Bank was part of the 61st International Credit Union Day Celebration Print E-mail

The Cameroon Cooperation Credit Unions League – CamCCUL – last Saturday October 17, 2009 held celebrations to mark the 61st International Credit Union Day which, incidentally, was also the 41st anniversary of CamCCUL. This is in line with the initiative developed 61 years ago by the world council of credit unions (WOCCU) which set aside the second Thursday of the month of October to celebrate and recognize members’ efforts in developing the rural masses through regular financial assistance.

The Bafoussam event, saw a turnout of over 5000 participants coming from the ten regions of Cameroon as well as some top government officials among whom were His Excellency the  vice Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, accompanied by four other ministers.
In his opening speech, the president of CamCCUL acknowledged the presence of the League’s sponsors and strategic partners among which is Union Bank of Cameroon. The recognition of Union Bank as sponsor and partner to CamCCUL  demonstrates how committed both institutions are to each other especially in their drive towards enhancing the country’s economy as well as provide financial assistance to individual and corporate entities.
Union Bank was represented at this occasion by the Assistant General Manager, Head, Financial Control, and Head, Financial Control. Speaking during the ceremony, the AGM, in a strongly-worded message, reassured camCCUL and the public present of the bank’s sound financial stance, its recent technological innovation and its unwavering commitment to its stakeholders.
It was also an occasion for Union Bank to inform the Bafoussam public – thanks to the motorcade organized round town – of its upcoming Bafoussam branch which is situated at Rue Commerciale, Super Marché SIM.
