In line with the bank’s core values which include amongst others, merit and service excellence, the institution has also made it a duty to contribute positively to the environment it operates in, which is also in line with the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy.

Mindful of the fact that the youths of today are the leaders of tomorrow, Union Bank with its interest in nation building is thus contributing firmly to ensure a stronger Cameroon. It is in this light that management welcomed some close to 50 students of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) on October 13, 2009 in the bank’s conference room.

Designated members of staff took turns to share their experiences in the banking sector. On the request of the students, topics specifically covered were:

  • The Global Economic Downturn, and
  • Internal Control in the Bank.

As these students were interested in acquiring practical knowledge during this industrial visit to Union Bank, team members used the opportunity to widen their scope by dishing out detailed knowledge in the practicalities of banking institutions.

This was an opportunity for the students to discover the practical structure of a banking institution, its products/services, as they were elated after a question-and-answer session.

Receiving these students, showcases the bank’s commitment to promoting intellect in Cameroon as the ACCA students’ visit comes barely two months after that of the Marketing Students of the Pan African Institute in Buea.
With these actions, Union bank is sending out a strong signal to both the domestic and international communities on its role in education.
